Hao-Chun Xu, a Taipei-born pianist, is currently pursuing a Master of Specialized Music Performance in Piano Chamber Music at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), studying under Professor Eckart Heiligers. He began piano studies at the age of five and was admitted to the prestigious Music School in Taipei at eleven, marking the start of his formal musical training.

In 2019, Xu received a full scholarship to attend the Lamont School of Music Summer Academy in Denver, USA. During the academy, he won the concerto competition, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the academy orchestra in the final concert.

The same year, he was admitted as the top-ranked student in the piano department at the National Taipei University of Education (NTUE), where he studied with Professor Chin-Chuan Chang. At NTUE, Xu won the university’s piano concerto competition and later performed Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the university orchestra in 2020. Throughout his undergraduate studies, he received mentorship from internationally renowned pianists including Vadym Kholodenko, Andrew Tyson, and Ilya Rashkovskiy.

Before moving to Switzerland, Xu earned Second Prize at the National Piano Competition in Taiwan.

Beyond his work as a soloist, Xu is highly active in collaborative music-making. His performance experience spans Taiwan, the United States, China, Switzerland, Italy, and Germany, and he maintains a strong passion for chamber music, piano collaborations, as well as an artistic curiosity that extends to the clarinet.
